During the 2025 summer holidays the time had finally come: the street was converted into a bicycle street with wider pavements. The ClimateHub group had been campaigning for the redesign since 2024.
On 2 November 2025, ClimateHub Marburg invited people to an information and networking meeting at Cafe Trauma. A total of 15 Marburg climate initiatives introduced themselves to the almost 80 visitors that day. FastForwardTheatre (FFT) contributed their improvisation skills to bring people and organisations together around the topics in a funny and creative way.🎭
In late 2024 the group "Marburg goes green" began preparing to take part in the nationwide German "Abpflastern" competition for unsealing paved surfaces. Twelve selected sites were proposed to the City of Marburg. In early 2026 the first municipal site was unsealed. Private owners, schools and the university are being involved as well.🌱
On 5 July 2025, as part of the Balkonien '25 project, a total of 1,174 retired solar modules were rebuilt into new balcony power plants in Emmendingen, Würzburg, Erlangen, Marburg and Potsdam, with over 750 participants – a new world record for sustainable energy use and circular economy in practice. 💡
In cooperation with Stadtwerke Marburg, a ClimateHub group organised three events on sun, wind and heat, plus another ten talks on heat pumps in older buildings with Axel Erdmann. Several hundred visitors were able to learn about the benefits of renewable energy from qualified speakers.🌞
The ClimateHub and our climate networkers Johanna & Stefan have already made many new projects and initiatives possible! Anyone can take part in our regular events on a wide range of topics. We also actively bring projects that work in other cities to Marburg. In 2025 alone, we enabled a total of:
The ClimateHub is a non-profit point of contact for everyone in Marburg who works on climate action or would like to get involved. There is a dedicated online platform for digital exchange and our local networker Stefan on the ground. Together we bring all of the city's actors together to tackle the climate crisis. With many events and campaigns we inspire even more people to get involved in climate action.

Since 1975 BUND has been working to preserve our natural foundations of life. The Marburg local group is committed to climate action and the mobility and energy transition, and takes a stand against environmentally destructive projects.
We see Solidarburg as a matching platform that lets everyone offer help in their immediate neighbourhood, independently and responsibly.
Klimabündnis Marburg brings together numerous organisations and initiatives active in climate action. The alliance has been meeting since 2019 to create an informal exchange.
